Malfunctions in the Musculo-Skeletal system
Three Common malfunctions in the system:
-compartment syndrome
-myositis
-arthritis
Causes and risk factors of the malfunctions:
-Compartment syndrome is caused by athletic exertion. Excessive pressure within the muscles cause a decrease in blood flow. It is a danger because it is painful and can lead to further damage if left untreated.
-Myositis is caused by the inflammation of voluntary muscles. It can occur from an injury, infection, or autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the healthy body cells. Myositis is dangerous because it can lead to general discomfort, rashes, and an increase risk of falling and causing more injuries.
-Arthritis is caused by the excessive use of joints. It usually arises from weight-bearing activities, unusual strains on a joint, emotional stress, or inflammation of bone. Arthritis reduces mobility, dexterity, and is often painful. These factors can lead to increased changes of dangerous accidents or further musculo-skeletal damage.
Symptoms of the malfunctions:
-The main symptom of compartment syndrome is pain. There could also be tingling, burning in the skin, tight or full muscles when stretching.
-A symptoms of myositis is pain from lack of oxygen and nutrition reaching nerve and muscle cells.
-Symptoms of arthritis include joint pain, swelling, stiffness, reduction in the ability to move joints freely, fever, and tenderness.
Treatment options:
-For compartment syndrome, people are often able to cure their symptoms through a progression of stretching and physical therapy. However, in extreme cases, surgery could be required to ease swelling until it is able to naturally heal.
-Myositis can be healed naturally over time. It could also be treated by medication to suppress the immune system while muscular swelling eases.
-Arthritis can best be dealt with by protection of joints, maintaining healthy weight, and exercising daily. Often exercise can greatly negate the effects of arthritis, but are there is no cure, only other option is to take pain medications to daily routines easier.
